Our New School

During the summer of 2007, Henbury HIgh School changed premises and changed its name. We are now known as Macclesfield High School. We have become part of the exciting new Macclesfield Learning Zone, based at Park Lane in Macclesfield.

What is the Learning Zone?

Macclesfield Learning Zone is a collaborative partnership between local High Schools, Park Lane Special School and Macclesfield College to transform education and training in Macclesfield and the surrounding area. At the heart of the Learning Zone is a new, state-of-the-art learning campus at Park Lane, Macclesfield. This provides modern, world class education and training facilities for the whole community.

From September 2007, this visionary educational campus now incorporates a new College building, a new High School, a new Learning Zone Sixth Form College (called LZ6 for short), a new joint Sports Centre, a new building for the College's European Centre for Aerospace Training (ECAT), plus integration opportunities for students of Park Lane Special School, both in the new High School and in the LZ6.

New Facilities

From 2007 our facilities include:

• A brand new school, built for the future, with all the latest learning resources, on the new and exciting Macclesfield Learning Zone
• 20% Larger, more spacious classrooms, built to new Government standards
• Wide corridors as requested by the students themselves!
• Well-equipped suites for every subject
• Two new sports halls, gymnasium, flood-lit all-weather pitch and five upgraded and re-drained pitches
• Our own high quality tennis courts and close links with the on-site Macclesfield Tennis Club
• Specialist accommodation for music, drama and art
• Modern foreign language labs
• A campus-wide computer network offering the latest applications and high-speed broadband access from every classroom, with more than 550 workstations and wireless routers, interactive "Smart boards" and multi-media projectors in every room
• A Scantek technology laboratory (one of only 200 in the country) with robotics, pneumatics and wind-tunnel kits
• Learning Support and Special Educational Needs base
• New Inclusion Resource Centre and Student Support Rooms
• Several quiet rooms and break out spaces for use by students and staff
• The new Learning Zone Sixth Form College (the "LZ6") for our sixth formers
