The Scary Guy Visits Macclesfield

The Scarey Guy

The Scary Guy visited Macclesfield High School on Monday 6th October.  He spent the day talking to 400 pupils from local primary schools and about 900 secondary students from across the whole of the Macclesfield and Bollington area.  He spoke about the dangers of prejudice and hatred.  At an evening presentation, he passed on his message to parents, governors, community police officers, youth workers and others.

The Scary Guy challenged students from across Macclesfield and Bollington to take a good look at themselves and they were shown how to take full responsibility for all of their own behaviour in the form of words and actions seen as Energy.

Macclesfield High School has received 100% positive feedback from the events which students in particular gained great benefit from.  By the end of the day, Scary had received over 100 emails from students who are now taking part in the Seven Day Challenge, also known as “Random Acts of Kindness Week”.  (Details are attached).

Scary told students: “This will be the most difficult 7 days of your life.  I guarantee it!  No lip service!  If you think you are tough .... take the challenge!  “All your words have meaning.  Your words are powerful.  You are responsible for what you say.  Each and every one of us has the power to lift people up with our words or to tear them down one word at a time.
“It's a choice not an accident!  Now you know!”

The Scary Guy is a former tattoo artist from America who legally changed his name in 1998 after a rival tattoo artist ran a full page advert asking, “Are you tired of dealing with scary guys with war paint facial tattoos”.  Today he uses his striking appearance to challenge the stereotypes people label him with when they first see him.  For the last ten years, Scary has travelled non-stop around the world, working with schools, police forces, the military, different religions and a host of communities and corporate organisations, delivering his programmes to over 7 million people worldwide.

The Scary Guy teaches each individual that they have the capacity to interact with all human behaviour with love, compassion and understanding – even in the face of negative words or actions – without themselves becoming negative in that process.  As part of his mission to rid the world of hatred, he has helped thousands of troubled children.

The 7 Day, 7 Night Challenge

  • Don't say one negative word about another person on this planet!
  • Don't call another person a name other than their own!

The challenge will allow you to determine exactly how you use words to influence or affect others as well as yourself.  Thinking about what you are saying requires a great deal of focus and concentration.  Thinking about what you are NOT going to say requires even more focus, concentration and commitment.

Name-calling and labelling occur on a regular basis and most of us participate without a conscious awareness within ourselves.

Days 1, 2 and 3 of the challenge

During the first 3 days you may experience a feeling of isolation.  This is normal. To stop a conditioned thought process of speech requires time.  It may feel like you have nothing to say. The first 3 days of The Challenge are necessary for you to learn about your own habits and put new and up-lifting words in their place.

Remember - day 3 is the day you introduce the challenge to your parents!  This is an opportunity to put your entire family on The Challenge.  Read The Challenge to them and let them know you could use their help!!

Days 4, 5 and 6 of the challenge

Your word replacement process has become a bit easier around day four.  At this point your sub-conscious mind begins to take over. You may think 'this is easy!'

Caution: This is when you may begin to return to your old patterns

Staying focused during days 4 to 6 is a must.

Day 7 of the challenge

At the end of day 7, take the time to summarise your experiences. Write ONLY about YOU and your 7 day 7 night challenge. Good Luck!

Scary is unique in his capacity to reach audiences of all ages and backgrounds.  His delivery is uncompromising and his message is true.  At Macclesfield High School we look forward to providing the students of the Macclesfield and Bollington Education Improvement Partnership with a valuable opportunity to learn lifelong skills which will enable them to interact with all human behaviour with love, compassion and understanding.
