Macclesfield High School hosted an Athletics Festival on 13th November for local primary schools. Pupils from Broken Cross, Gawsworth, Hollinhey, Ivy Bank, St. Barnabas and St John’s took part. Around 100 children and well over a hundred parents, supporters and teachers attended the event and the sports hall was full to bursting with people and activity!

Three girls and three boys represented each school in each of 6 field and 6 track events. Gawsworth won, Ivy Bank came second and St Barnabas third. The level of competition was superb from every school. Congratulations go to all the teachers and coaches at all 6 schools for the very high standard of preparation that was put into training the children for the events and, of course, to the pupils themselves for trying hard and making the event such a success.
Macclesfield High School provided all the judges, timers, team coaches and officials for the Festival with 22 Year 10 GCSE students involved. Thanks go to all our students for a job well done and a special mention to Jordan Kenyon and Lucy Coppack, our senior Young Sporting Ambassadors and our 4 new Sporting Ambassadors Beth McIntyre, Catherine Allen, John Fitzpatrick and Thomas Goodwin. The event was arranged by our Sports Co-ordinator, Mr Chris Shingles and the events were run superbly by Mr Bob Lynch from Macclesfield Harriers.
