Macclesfield High School Hands Over £1026.45 To East Cheshire Hospice

Macclesfield High School was delighted to hand over cheques totalling £1026.45 to Jayne Bessant, Chief Executive of East Cheshire Hospice on Wednesday 4th February.

Jayne Bessant joined Ged Ward, Macclesfield High School’s Headteacher, Jim Bisset, Chair of the School’s Governing Body, Mrs Hughes, History teacher, who coordinated the staff Christmas collection and two students, Hannah Grime and Maisie Johnson who each contributed in lots of ways to the School Concert.  Maisie played the drums and Hannah sang her own composition.  Both students also sang in the school choir.

£475 was raised through ticket sales and a retiring silver collection at the school’s Annual Concert in December.  In addition, staff raised a massive £526.45 by choosing to donate to East Cheshire Hospice rather than sending Christmas cards to each other.   £25 was presented as an individual donation.

Jayne Bessant said: “This £1000 will go a long way towards helping to find the £5,500 needed every day to run the East Cheshire Hospice.  I am keen to find ways of the ECH working more closely with Macclesfield High School, and I was delighted to discuss some ideas with Maisie and Hannah”.
