Macclesfield High School Hosts Specialist Schools and Academies Trust Conference

SSAT logoTeachers from across the north-west became students for the day recently when they visited Macclesfield High School for their regional conference.  They found out how students at MHS are learning by using new technology such as Geniivision, hand-held voting devices, the School’s VLE (Virtual Learning Environment) and the latest applications of the interactive whiteboard.

Arts College logoMHS staff have been invited to showcase some of these strategies at the forthcoming national conference in London.

As a specialist Arts and Technology College, Macclesfield High School is a member of the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust (SSAT).

The SSAT’s aims are to offer practical support to transforming secondary education in England by building and enabling a world-class network of innovative, high-performing secondary schools in partnership with business and the wider community.

  • ICT Practice at MHS – its application and the continuing vision
  • New uses of the Promethean Interactive Whiteboard with hand-held voting devices
  • Uniservity VLE (Virtual Learning Environment)
  • Film Making for Teaching and Learning
  • Using interactive Scantek equipment in Design and Technology
  • Use of Geniivision and hand-held devices

Mr Ward, the Headteacher, said: “We were delighted to welcome colleagues from across the north-west of England.  My staff demonstrated the wide variety of modern teaching methods being used at Macclesfield High School to assist our students with their learning, not just in IT-related subjects, but across the curriculum.  I am also very proud that some of them have been invited to showcase their presentations at the national conference later in the year.”
