Plans are now in place for the future of Macclesfield High School’s leadership following the retirement of the previous headteacher, Ged Ward.

Chair of the Governing Body of Macclesfield High School, Jim Bisset, has today (Tuesday) announced the appointment of Andy Robinson as Consultant Head on a part-time basis and Kevin Harrison as full-time Acting Headteacher for 2009/10.

Both are currently employed at neighbouring Tytherington High School. The move follows discussion between Governors from the two schools, who are both part of the Macclesfield and Bollington Education Improvement Partnership.

Jim Bisset said: “We are extremely pleased to announce the appointments of both Andy Robinson and Kevin Harrison, and we are grateful to Tytherington High School for assisting with these temporary arrangements.

“The Governors of Macclesfield High School have agreed to now move forward with plans for the appointment of a new head next term, with a view to them being in place for the start of the next school year.”

Tytherington High School Chair of Governors, Martin Smith, said: “It is an honour for us to be able to assist another local school, especially one of our Education Improvement Partners.

“Andy Robinson, Chair of the highly successful Macclesfield and Bollington Education Improvement Partnership has consistently promoted partnership working and this is a great opportunity to prove its worth.

Head of Services for Children and Families at Cheshire East Council, Lorraine Butcher, said: “Cheshire East Council welcomes the two new temporary appointments and the benefits that the arrangements will bring, not just to the two schools but to the wider Macclesfield school community.”

Tytherington High School was deemed a ‘good school with outstanding features’ at its last Ofsted in 2009.
