New school – new dawn

As one era ends …. another of fresh promise unfolds at Cheshire’s new Macclesfield High.

Headteacher Ged Ward is passionate about the direction the school will take to help students and staff alike fulfil their true potential.  

“You don’t create a school’s ethos by talking or writing about it. It doesn’t happen overnight.

“You can only work every day at creating the conditions in which people feel empowered to succeed.”

Our Cheshire went behind the scenes to capture the new term’s hectic start … which went something like this

9.30am
“You’re all brilliant learners,” Ged Ward tells the new Year 7 intake “Learning is easy.  You’ve been doing it all your lives and now I want you to carry on and be successful.”

Lunchtime chat with students who make up the 35-strong group of 14-16 year-olds from Park Lane Special School - now fully integrated within the Learning Zone

New school, new ‘House’ system to build identity - led by Julie Chester, Kath Shaw and Chris Shuttleworth whose experience from diverse workplaces informs their new roles

2pm
Food was ‘top-notch’, Ged Ward tells CBS catering staff after the hectic lunchtime rush.
