Two of Macclesfield High School’s A-Level Art students were picked from across the county to take part in the annual trip to Italy, run by the Cheshire Arts team. Vicky Knight and Jo Mott from Year 13 were interviewed by the Arts Advisor for Cheshire and were selected to take part in the trip which took place over half term. The group of A-Level students spent a week in Tuscany visiting galleries and drawing from the classical architecture in beautiful areas such as Florence, Sienna and the Pierro Trail, as well as taking inspiration from the fabulous landscape. Before the trip, the students were asked to make a fashion piece on a theme, which they wore on a special fashion show evening on the trip.
Now back home, they will be taking part in a series of weekend workshops, where they will produce a piece of work to be included in their A2 coursework.
Macclesfield High School’s Art department was doubly honoured, as the Head of Art, Miss Forster, was invited by the Arts Adviser to teach on the course. This is a real accolade as the course is highly regarded by both students and staff as a showcase for the excellent standard of Art teaching within the county.
