Macclesfield High School held a whole school non-uniform day on Friday 22nd January and raised over £1100 for Haiti earthquake victims. In addition, students from Park Lane Special School who are educated at MHS, held a sponsored swim to raise further funds for the Haiti earthquake appeal.
Form time last week was dedicated to raising student awareness of how the earthquake has affected children of Haiti. Students have been learning about the devastation caused by the earthquake and how the money they raise in our school will help people in Haiti.
Students from Macclesfield High School raised over £1100 for the Appeal - a huge achievement which will be of great benefit to the Haiti people over the coming weeks and months.
As a school, students are committed to ensuring that every child has their basic human rights as set out in the UNCRC. Students and staff are working towards gaining UNICEF’s Rights Respecting Schools Award. As part of this students are also planning to raise further funds to help victims of the Haiti earthquake in the run up to Valentine’s Day. Plans are to provide a range of different Valentine’s messages that can be sent by students to students. A selection of gifts are available, such as cards, chocolates, roses and balloons. All proceeds will go towards the disaster fund, helping to ensure that basic rights, such as access to clean water and food are restored to the people of Haiti.
