Macclesfield High School held its first GCSE Presentation Evening on 20th November to celebrate the achievements of its Year 11 students from last year – the last ones ever to “graduate” from Henbury.

The evening proved to be extremely memorable and was an opportunity for students to celebrate their achievements with each other and with parents, staff and governors. This year our guest speaker, Steve Broadhurst, Director of Cheshire Fundraisers, owner of the Bate Hall and Local Councillor, presented the GCSE certificates, together with special awards for several individual high achievers. The winners of the four awards were:
The event was a huge success with a giant celebration cake and impressive displays by Worldwide Balloons of Alderley Edge. A photographic record of the evening was taken by Michael Dale Photography and Silk FM kindly promoted the event for the school. The audience was packed with around 220 students, parents and staff. A wonderful musical interlude was provided by current Year 12 and 13 pupils from LZ6, our Sixth Form College.
The evening was friendly and relaxed and guests stayed on afterwards to enjoy refreshments and to ‘catch up’ with old friends and staff. Mr Ward said that “the event was a fitting celebration of the students’ academic and other achievements. My thanks go to everyone who worked so hard to make the evening so memorable for our students”.
