Year 7


Assessment:

5 Key Assessments over the course of the year, covering the following historical skills: Causation, Source Interpretation, Significance, Knowledge & Understanding, Continuity and Change.

NC Levels: Most students are expected to achieve level 5 or above in History by the end of Key Stage 3, and to have progressed by at least one level from the start of Year 7.

Content of Course:

Britain in the Middle Ages 1066 - 1500. Norman Conquest, Medieval Life, Black Death, Crusader, Henry VIII, Religion Under the Tudors.

Year 8


Assessment:

  • Medicine Through Time (37 ½ %)
  • American West (37 ½ %)
Coursework:

Two pieces of coursework:

  • History Around Us - Styal Mill (12 ½ %)
  • Modern World Conflict in Ireland , (12 ½ %)

The coursework units are completed towards the end of Year 10 and in the Autumn Term of Year 11.

Content of Course: In Year 10 students study Medicine Through Time and complete coursework on Styal Mill. In Year 11 Conflict in Ireland coursework is completed and then the American West Unit is studied.
