Modern Foreign Languages (MFL)

Year 7 | Year 8 | Year 9 | Year 10 | Year 11

 

Year 7


Assessment:

Students will be assessed each term in Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing in the foreign languages(s) that they are studying.

NC Levels: Most students are expected to achieve at least a Level 5 in one language. Some may achieve this in two languages.

Content of Course:

In Years 7 - 9 students study a range of topics covering everyday situations in one or two languages. They learn the language needed to enable them to communicate with and understand, a French or Spanish speaker.

Year 8

Qualification: GCSE
Syllabus: AQA Specification A full course French

Assessment: Students will be tested in Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing. Each component is worth 25% of the overall GCSE. Speaking will be assessed in an individual oral exam with the subject teacher in May of Yr 11. The Reading and Listening elements will be assessed via the final exam.
Coursework: The writing element will be assessed via 3 short pieces of coursework completed during the end of Year 10 & Year 11.
Content of Course: Students are taught the grammar and language needed to enable them to communicate with and understand a French speaker.

Spanish
